Corner House Christian hosts Overnighter

HUBBARD – Corner House Christian, 6954 Chestnut-Ridge Road, Hubbard, will hold its famous Overnighter beginning at 6 p.m. today until 10:30 a.m. Saturday for children ages kindergarten through fifth-grade.

The theme will be “Racing Towards the Goal.” 

It’s a free event. Bring your sleeping bag or blanket and pillow, toothbrush and stuffed animal.

There will be exciting games, activities, lessons, dinner and a surprise guest and breakfast.

Mercer UM hosts Summer Smile Day Camp

MERCER – Mercer United Methodist Church will host Summer Smile Day Camp from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday beginning Tuesday and continue through Aug. 13 at Brandy Springs Park.

There will be fun games, a Bible lesson, lunch, crafts and friendships. Children ages preschool through those going into sixth grade are welcome.

The event is free. Lunch is provided and is also free.

Atlantic church hosts Ugandan children’s choir

ATLANTIC – The Watoto Children’s Choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at the Fallowfield United Methodist Church, 3993 Leach Road, Atlantic.

The Children’s Choir is comprised of about 30 children from Uganda, East Africa. They will be performing their new album “We Will Go” which presents the story of abandoned African children and vulnerable women, who’ve been empowered to rise above their circumstances, and answer the call to be part of the new Africa.

Watoto Children’s Choirs have traveled extensively since 1994. On almost every day of the year, the choir is performing somewhere in the world.

Like Africa, the production is vibrant and colorful, presenting an emotional journey from utter despair to joyous celebration.

Second Baptist Church to observe Youth Sunday

SHARPSVILLE – Second Baptist Church, Tenth and Walnut streets, Sharpsville, will observe Youth Sunday on Sunday at the 11:15 a.m. worship service. The 2019 graduates will be honored.

Special guest will be Robert Trudo, a standout scholar and football player.

All, especially the youth, are invited to enjoy the celebration.

Rev. James McKeithan is the host pastor.

New Life Covenant to observe Youth Day

SHARON – New Life Covenant Church, 807 Spruce Ave., Sharon, holds its annual Youth Day at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. 

Key speaker will be the principal of East High School, Jeremy Batchelor, a native of Youngstown. He previously worked in Austintown local schools and in schools in North Carolina. In the last two months he was nominated and received recognition as the Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators “Administrator of the Year.” 

Other youth speakers will be: Michael Cannon, a 2019 Farrell graduate who enlisted in the Army; Camryn Gipson, who was inducted into the National Honor Society from Farrell Schools; and Ja’Kiah King of New Life Covenant Church.

All youth will be wearing bright orange T-shirts.

Woodson to speak at Word of Life

GREENVILLE – Rev. Woody Woodson will speak at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 30 at Word of Life Christian Center, 127 Wasser Road, Greenville.

Congregation celebrates pastoral anniversary

SHARON – Cedar Avenue Church of God, 1045 Cedar Ave., Sharon, announces services for Rev. Charles W. Johnson Jr.’s 15th Pastoral Anniversary.

A pre-anniversary service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday with Superintendent Tyrone Steals as the guest preacher. Bishop Alvin McCoy will preach at 7 p.m. June 21. On June 23 Rev. Vaughn Bell will preach at 11 a.m., and Bishop Timothy J. Clarke will preach at 5 p.m.

Trinity Presbyterian Church slates music series

MERCER – Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St., holds its Summer Music Series during the 11 a.m. service.

During June special music will be presented by: pianist Ian Ollila and the Trinity Hand Bell Choir on Sunday; the Vacation Bible School children on June 23; and vocalist Pamela Courtney on June 30.

Others in the summer music series are: pianist Carol Mixer, July 7; vocalist Karla Snyder, July 14; instrumentalists Glenn Buchanan, July 21 and Michael Peterson, July 28; and vocalists Ellen Campbell, Aug. 4; Hugh Ringer, Aug. 11, and Vicky Long, Aug. 18. The series concludes with the Trinity Recorder Trio on Aug. 25.

Guest pianists and organists playing for summer services are: Ellen Campbell, Sunday; Carol Mixer, July 7, and Dana Eade, Aug. 25.

An adult Sunday school class is offered at 9 a.m., while children’s classes are on break until fall. Worship is at 10 a.m. June through August.

Adult-supervised child care is provided for each service; the church is accessible to all.

Service schedule at Orangeville Baptist

SHARPSVILLE – Services for Orangeville Baptist Church, 7600 Orangeville Road, Sharpsville, are Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11 a.m.

There is a Wednesday evening prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m.

The church is always collecting food for June: Peanut butter, jelly, crackers, Ramen noodles, mac and cheese, etc. for the food pantry.

Living Faith Christian service times

FARRELL – Worship for Living Faith Christian Church, 829 New Castle Road, Farrell (in the plaza) will be at 11 a.m. Sunday.

A discipleship class will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pastors Cary and Chris and lay pastor Frank will also have a 9 a.m. class every third and fourth Saturday at Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.
