New Lebanon Community hosts simulcast program

Church offers two new adult Sunday classes

SOUTH PYMATUNING – The adult teaching ministry of South Pymatuning Community Church, 3400 Tamarack Drive, Sharpsville, offers two new classes during the 9:30 a.m. teaching hour each Sunday.

Taught by two of the church’s teaching elders, one class will cover the Book of Hebrews with an emphasis on both interpretive passages of Scripture as well as practical application to the Scripture teachings.

The other class will be a scriptural study of the lives of various characters in both the Old and New Testaments – Abraham, Melchizedek, Issac, Daniel, Simon Peter, James, Philemon, etc. These lives teach both positive and negative approaches to living the Christian life.

Classes are open to anyone. Following the teaching hour a corporate hour of worship, including the teaching of God’s word along with traditional and contemporary music, is offered.

Church to celebrate pastoral anniversary

FARRELL – Second Missionary Baptist Church of Farrell celebrates Pastor Russell V. Penn Jr. and Lady Yvonne Penn’s eighth Pastoral Anniversary on Sunday.

Morning worship is at 11 a.m. and Proclamation of the Word will be presented by Rev. Kelvin L. Jordan, associate minister. An afternoon celebration and worship service will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Guests will be Rev. Dr. Avan M. Odom, choir and congregation from Friendship Baptist Church of Warren, Ohio. The theme is: “A Great-Messenger of God” (Ephesians 4:11).

Services scheduled at Orangeville Baptist

SHARPSVILLE – Services for Orangeville Baptist Church, 7600 Orangeville Road, Sharpsville, are Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11 a.m.

There is a Wednesday evening prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m.

The church is collecting food for the food pantry. Items being collected include breakfast items, cereals, oatmeal, etc., personal care items such as soaps, deodorants, laundry soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, paper towels, toilet tissue, etc.

Living Faith Christian sets service times

FARRELL – Worship for Living Faith Christian Church, 829 New Castle Road, Farrell (in the plaza) will be at 11 a.m. Sunday.

A discipleship class will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pastors Cary, Chris and Lay Pastor Frank will also have a 9 a.m. Sunday service at Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.

Singer, ventriloquist to perform at church

SHARON – Singer and ventriloquist Jimmy Swogger and Friends will perform 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 301 W. State St., Sharon.

Swogger and his friends have performed all over the country, including for many U.S. presidents.

Valley United Methodists plan Lenten services

SHENANGO VALLEY – Join the Shenango Valley Cluster of the United Methodist Churches as they gather to share a Lenten journey.

Each Sunday at 7 p.m. participants will gather at a different United Methodist Church for worship, music and to hear one of the area pastors share “The Good News.”

Each evening will end with a time of fellowship and refreshments provided by the host church.

Host churches and speakers are: Sunday, New Virginia UMC with Rev. Earl Butterfield; March 31, Hickory UMC, Rev. Mark Goswick; April 7, West Middlesex UMC with Rev. Doug Dyson; and April 14, Sharon First UMC with Rev. Jodie Smith, D.S.

Lenten luncheon series scheduled

GREENVILLE – Calvary United Methodist Church is hosting the annual Lenten Luncheon series held on Wednesdays during Lent.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. (cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children).

The program which follows each luncheon includes special music and a guest speaker.

This year’s schedule is: Wednesday,  Fallowfield UMC with special music by Chuck Thorpe and speaker Rev. L.J. Stone of First UMC; April 3, North Salem UMC with special music by The Singing Chargers and speaker Rev. Jim Chapin of Living Word; and April 10, First UMC with special music by Don Henley and Jim Vasconi and speaker Rev. Dennis Henley of Ingomar UMC of Pittsburgh.

Valley Baptist to host Men’s Day breakfast

FARRELL – The Men of Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell, will host a Men’s Day Prayer Breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The keynote speaker will be Superintendent Tyrone T. Steals, pastor of Greater Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, Farrell.

A full breakfast will be served, and men as well as women are welcome to attend.

Curtis Tanner and Glenn Barrow will be featured as special mini speakers.

Men’s Day service at Valley Baptist

FARRELL – Valley Baptist Church will observe Men’s Day at the 11 a.m. worship Sunday.

Elder J. Dwayne Heard, pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Youngstown, will be the guest clergy.

The theme for both worship services is “The Kingdom Man” with scriptural reading from Psalms 128: 1-6.

Jaren Sims will be the worship leader, and the men will take charge of the service.
