FARRELL – The Farrell Alumni Hall of Fame executive board has canceled the group’s annual induction ceremony and banquet for 2020.
This year’s 16th annual event had been scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Park Inn by Radisson.
“This was a very painful decision for us,” said Jim Raykie, FAHF executive director. “As a group, we worried about attendance because we didn’t want our inductees to share such a special event with less than our normal crowd. We had another great class selected.
“And we sell congratulatory advertising in our printed program, and realizing how local businesses have been impacted by the pandemic, we didn’t think it was right to seek donations in such challenging times.”
The dinner normally draws a crowd of about 250.
The next banquet will be held Oct. 9, 2021. The event is held annually on the second Saturday in October.
Farrell philanthropist Ted Pedas, who is former planetarium director for the Farrell Area School District and Youngstown State University, is the adviser of the FAHF.
