MERCER – Thirteen people recently completed the 40-hour Penn State Extension Master Gardener training program on March 4.
The new master gardeners are Susan Adams, Wendy Boggs, Matthew Christy, Shelby Clark, Ann Merkle, Tabatha Miller, Marcia Moyer, Alec Moyer, Charles Muszik, Jaci Pauchfenton, Beth Provins, Dennis Redmond, Jr., and Gilda Stigliano.
They are now ready to complete their internship and join the ranks of active master gardener volunteers.
The program trains individuals in the science and art of gardening. These volunteers then pass on their gardening knowledge and expertise to the public free of charge.
During these times of social distancing the master gardeners can still be of service to home gardeners through their gardening hotline. The hotline can answer questions on a multitude of topics including trees and shrubs, annuals and perennials, fruits and vegetables, soil and composting, lawn care, gan arden and household pests.
Call the hotline at 724-662-3141 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Online: Facebook – Penn State Master Gardeners of Mercer County and https://extension.psu.edu/programs/master-gardener
