Four years since its inception, New Beginnings Christian Church is breaking ground for a new worship center at 73 Hamburg Road in Hempfield Township.

The Rev. Tom Ciccarella, founding pastor came to Greenville with his wife Zoraima and family five years ago from Westchester County, N.Y. A group of 30 people asked Pastor Ciccarella to help establish a church under the recommendation of the Christian Church of North America, with headquarters in Transfer, to which the church is affiliated.

New Beginnings Christian Church began in 2002 renting Stony Point Grange.

For the past year and a half the congregation has been renting the former Greencrest Baptist Church next door to Reynolds High School.

Pastor Ciccarella noted a pavilion was erected last summer on the new property and has been used for a number of picnic services. The worship center should be ready for services in late fall, he said.
