• Jenna Reda of Hermitage was one of 56 Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y., students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa on May 4. The ceremony was held online.

Phi Beta Kappa is considered America’s most prestigious honor society, with the top 10 percent of liberal arts and science graduates invited to join. There are fewer than 300 chapters of the honor society in the country.

Jenna was also among 20 Hofstra students to be inducted into the Mu Kappa Chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), the international geographic honor society. The ceremony was held over Zoom.

The number of Mu Kappa members now stands at 158 since the chapter’s founding in 2012. Hofstra’s Mu Kappa chapter has been the recipient of a GTU Honors Chapter Award over the last five consecutive years.

Jenna is majoring in English and Global Studies at Hofstra.
