Viewfinders Camera Club
Viewfinders Camera Club started the new year off with a bang with 30 people attending “Your Best Shot” competition, which was extremely difficult to judge due to the quality of the 45 digital and 26 printed entries.
In the printed division, first place was won by Deb Coglan for her Venetian photo captioned “The Original Paddleboat.” Second place went to Ron Hovis for his “Capitol Reef State Park,” a photo of rock formations. The third-place winner was Bob Rehner for “Death Valley,” a stark depiction of bones.
The digital division, which is now limited to two entries per night, had Linda Mercadante capturing first for the emotional “What Lies Beyond?,” a shoreline photo. There was a tie for second between Murat Tanyel for his “Alaskan Reflection” and Linda Mercadante’s “Hummingbird at Dawn.” Joe Wolensky also used a hummingbird for his photo “Fuel Stop.”
This year the club began a new idea with having a food menu for a snack table. This idea was enthusiastically endorsed. The menu for the Sept. 17 meeting will be chips and dips and crackers and cheese.
The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 17, and the theme will be “Flowers.”
Guests are welcome.
