Pymatuning Lake recently welcomed 23 boats and 33 sailors who raced in four classes in the 42nd Annual Sam Myers Memorial Regatta hosted by the Pymatuning Sailing Club on Sept. 12-13.

Originally scheduled for July, the event was postponed to allow for health and safety precautions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event featured contactless registration and check-in protocols, social distancing allowances, phased event scheduling and cancelation of all group meals and awards ceremonies.

Steady winds on Saturday suited all of the sailors who completed four consecutive races. Boats included Windmills, Sunfish and Force 5s classes along with an open fleet of catamarans and daysailers.

Top three results in each class:

• Windmills: First, Pat/Janet Huntly; second, Ralph/Sandra Sponar; third, Matt/Allie Sponar

• Force 5s: First, Bob Maiorano; second, Bryan Spang; third, Noah Craciun

• Sunfish: First, Henry Polaski; second, Tim Polaski; third, Donald Fritz

• Open Fleet: First, Zach Spang/Taylor Williams; second Bob Bruce; third, Dave/Lisa Butcher
