MERCER – Seniors throughout the county find it difficult to find a reliable handyman, and the Mercer Senior Center has decided to help fix the problem.
Starting July 24 and continuing the fourth Wednesday of each month, the senior center is inviting people ages13 and older to “learn and share your talent.”
James Busch will lead the first class, which demonstrates how to repair drywall. If you already know the skill, bring your tools and compare your methods with James and others. The remainder of the class is all about drywall — its composition, how best to handle it, sources in the area, etc.
Teens and others who are not sure of what kind of a job they’d like to pursue will not want to miss any of the planned topics:
• Aug. 28 – Lawnmowers and tractors with Ross Vernon.
Ross has spent years helping people select their mowers. He will teach the class how and when to sharpen the blades, how to care, operate and store your machine.
Bring pictures and have your questions written clearly so all can understand.
• Sept. 25 – Shopping for knives in today’s market.
Learn how to sharpen, use, store, and clean safely. Bring a sample of your favorite or the worst and share your experiences or reasons. Who, is more sharp on this topic then our town Chef Marc Arnold?.
Each session will start promptly at 10 a.m. in the Brandy Springs Community Building, Mercer. Games start at 8 a.m.
Cost is $3 for lunch, which is served at noon. Reservations are due the Friday before each program.
Call 724-475-2520 for reservations.
