SHARON – Sharon Regional Medical Center announces the schedule for October community-based free health and wellness programs. All events are open to the public.
RN recruitment open house
Sharon Regional invites registered nurses with a Pennsylvania license looking to be part of the expanding team at Sharon Regional to attend a free Meet and Greet Open House from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sharon Regional School of Nursing in Morrison Hall, 740 E. State St.
Meet the nurse leaders, have one-on-one interviews with clinical managers and register to win prizes. Light refreshments will be served and tours of the units will be offered. Candidates are encouraged to bring their resumes for immediate consideration.
Ladies Night Out
October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Sharon Regional Medical Center is hosting the 3rd Annual Ladies Night Out event. The event will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 and will feature local vendors and informative sessions on breast health including featured speakers:
» Maryann Payne, MD, breast surgeon who will present: “Dispelling the Myths About Breast Cancer.”
» S. Lakshmi Perni, MD, diagnostic radiologist who will present: “Breast Cancer and the Importance of Early Detection.”
» Debra Evans, MSN, CRNP, AOCNP, Oncology Nurse Practitioner who will present: “What Women with Breast Cancer Want You to Know.”
The event will be held at the Hope Center for Arts and Technology, 115 Anson Way in Sharon. Registration and vendor displays will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., and speakers are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees will be registered to win a spa package at the Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa.
Childbirth education series
Sign up now for a five-week session that will cover the birthing process, breathing and relaxation techniques, role of a support person, and the Cesarean birth experience.
Tours of the Women’s Center at Sharon Regional will also be available. Now taking registrations for the next session scheduled for: Nov. 14, 21 and Dec. 5, 12, and 19 at the Sharon Regional Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way in Hermitage.
Diabetes education program
The Diabetes Center at Sharon Regional will offer a diabetes education program for those individuals at risk for developing diabetes.
Sessions are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 – healthy eating for those with diabetes and prediabetes.
The program will be held at the Hubbard Public Library, 436 West Liberty Street in Hubbard.
Healthy Steps walking program
Sharon Regional Medical Center and the American Heart Association have partnered on a community-based walking program. Get moving and walk with experts who are available to answer fitness and health questions along the way. The walking program will continue through October in two locations.
» Tuesday and Oct. 22 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Thiel College track in Greenville.
» Oct. 15 and 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Buhl Park fitness trail in Hermitage.
Weight loss seminars
Featuring Sharon Regional’s Sheetal Nijhawan, M.D., attend a free educational session to learn more about the bariatric surgery program.
The seminars are scheduled at the following locations:
» Friday at 2 p.m. located at Steward Specialty Care Neshannock, 143 Enclave Drive, New Castle.
» Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Sharon Regional Hubbard Diagnostic and Specialty Center, 880 W. Liberty St., Hubbard.

Orthopedic joint camp
Join the Sharon Regional orthopedic staff for a free Orthopedic Joint Camp on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Diagnostic and Imaging Center, 2435 Garden Way, Hermitage.
Stroke Support Group
