PROGRAMS

Moraine and McConnells Mill State Park will be holding these community programs: 

• Fall Foliage Kayak Float, 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10.

Attendees will meet at McDanel’s Launch (North Shore), Moraine State Park.

Join the Park Naturalist for an interpretive kayak paddle for an interesting look into the color of fall. 

This program is for ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear provided, or bring your own. Life jackets required to be worn. Pre-registration required. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Please bring a face mask or covering.

• Owl Prowl, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 10. Attendees will meet at Kildoo Pavilion, McConnells Mill State Park.

Join the Park Naturalist to learn about the wonderful owls that prowl the night woods in Pennsylvania.

Bring a flashlight if you have one. Dress for the weather. Pre-registration required. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Please bring a face mask or covering.

• Fall Foliage Hike, 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 11. Attendees will meet beside the Kildoo Pavilion, McConnells Mill State Park.

Join the Park Naturalist to learn about the colors of fall on this fun interpretive hike. Fun for the whole family.

• Geology Trail Hike, 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 15. Attendees should meet at Kildoo Picnic Area, McConnells Mill State Park.

Hike among the boulders at McConnells Mill. Activities include a geology themed guided hike in the Slippery Rock Gorge while learning how rocks and minerals tied into our industrial past.

Pre-registration is required. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Please bring a face mask or covering.

Attendees should meet at Pleasant Valley Non-motorized Launch Area (South Shore), Moraine State Park.

VOTING EVENTS

• The Mercer County Democratic Party will be hosting a Biden information and voting update event from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Stone Church Brewery parking lot, 600 S. Hermitage Rd., Hermitage.

DINNERS

• Fowler United Methodist Church is having a take-out only chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 10 at 3426 St. Rt. 193 @ St. Rt. 305. The dinner includes chicken pie, potatoes, green beans, applesauce, cole slaw, bread and apple crisp. Served at your car.

Cost: adults, $10; ages 6-12, $5; preschool, free.
