THINGS TO DO
• The Ride for Life will be held on Oct. 9 from Mercer to Meadville. The motorcycle ride will honor two children who died after choking and raise choking awareness, and LifeVac devices will be donated along the way.
Aizeya Mattocks was a beautiful 8-year-old who choked to death in school in 2012. She would have graduated high school in June 2021. Kolson Confer was a healthy 22-month-old boy who choked to death eating breakfast with his father.
Riders will meet at 10 a.m. at the Legion Riders, 100 E. Butler St., Mercer, then stop at fire and police departments, ambulance companies and preschools to donate the LifeVac choking rescue devices.
The ride ends The Compound Voodoo Brewery, 834 Bessemer St., Meadville, with CPR classes for parents, plus music, magic show, petting zoo and prizes.

• A chicken pie dinner will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at Fowler (Ohio) United Methodist Church at 3426 State Route 193 and State Route 305.
Meals are take-out only and cost $12 for adults; $6 for ages 6 to 12; and free for preschool-aged kids. Meal includes chicken pie, potatoes, green beans, applesauce, cole slaw, bread and apple crisp. Info: Call Regina at 330-442-1223.
