THINGS TO DO

MEETINGS

The Mercer County Breast Cancer Support Group is having an informal support group meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Buhl Park. Attendees are asked to park in the parking lot across from the casino. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a chair to use on the grass and a lunch.

The Support Group holds their monthly meetings from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month from March through December at UPMC Outpatient Center, 875 N. Hermitage Rd, Hermitage. Entrance is at the back of the building. Masks are mandatory and they practice safe distancing. If they have large attendance, they hold their meeting in the center of the building.

PROGRAMS

• Through a grant with PA Department of Environmental Protection, Buhl Park and the Mercer County Conservation District are providing free rain barrels and water education programs for interested groups within Mercer County. Buhl Park and Mercer County Conservation District educators will provide the programs for interested groups, whether in-person or virtual. The rain barrel must be placed in a public location – homeowner rain barrel workshops are planned for spring.

Rain barrel benefits include access to clean water for outdoor use such as gardening; water conservation; decrease in stormwater runoff and water pollution on a local level; and money saved on water bills.
