Dorothea Porter, a lifetime resident of the Clintonville area, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in her residence. She was 89.

Mrs. Porter was born on April 1, 1916, in Clinton Township, Venango County, to Elmer and Ettley Phipps Bailey.

She was a graduate of Clintonville High School and Butler Business School.

With her husband, Mrs. Porter owned and operated Porter’s Store in Clintonville.

She as a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville, and was a former member of its Missionary Society.

Mrs. Porter was an avid bowler and horseback rider and was still involved in the craft of tatting. She was an avid gardener.

Her husband, Robert T. Porter, whom she married on Sept. 18, 1935, died Dec. 30, 1997.

Surviving are: a daughter. Bonnie J. McKinley and her husband William, Clintonville; a son, Benjamin T. Porter and his wife Rita, Kennerdell, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Sherry Danylko, Terry Porter, Yvonne White, Sonya White, Lucy Porter, Garth Porter and Woodrow Porter; three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Gay Sloan and Mrs. William (Lois) Osborne, both Grove City.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert V. Porter; two sisters and a brother.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday (3-31-06) in the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony A. Catullo, pastor of Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville, officiating.

Burial: Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
