Elizabeth “Betty” Zeiger of 2200 Paul St., Hermitage, formerly of Harris Street, Sharon, passed away at 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, in her residence. She was 89.

Mrs. Zeiger was born May 25, 1916, in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late Edward and Ethel Smith Taylor.

She moved to the area as a young girl and was a graduate of Sharon High School.

Betty retired from the former Skibo Sales in Sharon, where she was employed as a clerk for more than 25 years. She had previously worked at the former Sam Lurie and Sons, also Sharon.

Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.  

She enjoyed traveling and particularly looked forward to vacationing during the winter months in Florida, where she loved to watch the sunset and observe dolphins.

Her husband, William Joseph Zeiger, whom she married July 13, 1941, in Richmond, Va., passed away Dec. 8, 1975.  

Surviving are: her daughter, Carole L. Dolata, wife of Peter Dolata, Warren, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Turner, Warren; and Danielle R. Spangler, wife of Raymond T. Spangler, Mercer; a stepdaughter, Joanne Smith, wife of Vernon Smith, Massillon, Ohio, and Port St. Lucie, Fla.; stepgrandchildren and their families, Kimberly Kuhns, wife of Mike Kuhns; and Lori Barnett, all Canton, Ohio; Melisa Kurcon, wife of Anthony Kurcon, Sharpsville; and Carole Harenchar, wife of Mike Harenchar, Sharpsville; a sister, Virginia Walker, wife of Ronald Walker, Aurora, Ill.; nephews, Arthur Rodewalt, Colorado; and Byron Rodewalt, Aurora; a special niece, Holly J. Goetschius, wife of Garrett Goetschius, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Peggy Chiarenza, wife of Vincent Chiarenza; and their children, Carol Sargent and Sheila Pompan, all New York State; cousins, Theresa Sescourka, wife of John Sescourka, Warren; and a special friend, Jacquie Pompos, Bonita Springs, Fla., to whom she was extremely appreciative for her fine hospitality while visiting.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a very special longtime companion, John Bailey, who passed away Oct. 28, 1999.
