Joseph Harkulich, Orange Village Care Center, Masury, formerly of Farrell, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in the nursing home. He was 87.

Mr. Harkulich was born Saturday, March 29, 1919, in Sharon, the son of Michael and Anna Ciganos Harkulich.

He attended Sharon schools and was a lifelong area resident.

An Army veteran, he served during World War II. Among his decorations and citations were the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He retired in 1978 from Wheatland Tube Co., where he was employed for 30 years.

He enjoyed sports, stamp collecting and had many pen pals.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph M. and his wife Sara; and James M. and his wife Debra, all of Masury; three sisters, Ann Gartner, Farrell; Margaret Cione, Sharon; and Mary Yesko, Hermitage; two grandchildren, Joseph A. Harkulich (Jennifer), Willoughby, Ohio; and Deborah L. Yuran (Joe), Hermitage; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John, Michael, George and Andrew.
