Maria Sciarro, 1355 Monticello Ave., Hermitage, died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday (8-8-06) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Sciarro was born Tuesday, June 29, 1926, in Sulmona, Italy, to Gennaro and Anna Paone Morgione.

She worked as a homemaker and was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville; and Columbia Federation in Youngstown.

Mrs. Sciarro enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing.

She was the widow of Rudolph Sciarro, whom she married Nov. 20, 1947. Mr. Sciarro died June 2, 1984.

Surviving are: a son, Emidio “Tony” Sciarro and his wife, Connie, of Hermitage; a sister, Flora, wife of Tonino Giangola, of Sulmona; a brother, Pierino Morgione of Sulmona; and two grandchildren, Jason and Michael Sciarro.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Vittorio, Gennaro and Dino Morgione.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Friday (8-11-06) in St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, with the Rev. John Lynch, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
