Mary L. Chase

Mary L. Chase, 4024 Wynwood Drive, South Pymatuning Township, passed away peacefully at 6:22 p.m. Saturday (8-26-06) in her residence following an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Chase was born Thursday, Oct. 11, 1923, in Farrell, a daughter of Joseph and Manda Perich Tosich.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Farrell High School in 1941 and from the Shenango Valley Commercial Institute in 1943.

Mrs. Chase retired in 1982 from Stupka Motors in Sharon after 16 years of service. Previously, she had worked as a secretary for several Shenango Valley businesses, including the former Beaver Explosive, Dunbar Asphalt Products Inc., the former Beckwith Machinery and the former Myer Frank Furniture Store.

She was a longtime member of Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage.

Mrs. Chase was active in several local organizations over the years, including American Business Women’s Association, both the Hermitage and Sharpsville business women’s clubs, Shenango Valley Service Club, University Club of Sharon and Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 126.

She enjoyed traveling, entertaining, doing crafts, searching for antiques and she especially enjoyed her weekly breakfast club gatherings with her close friends.

Her husband, John B. Chase, passed away Dec. 28, 2002.

She leaves: her daughter, Paula L. Chase, at home; a sister-in-law, Irene Niemiec, Casselberry, Fla., and her two daughters, Stephanie Elliott and Debbie Giordano; two nephews, Paul Listopad and his wife Elizabeth, West Middlesex, and their son Michael; and Dr. Aaron Listopad and his wife Paula A., Sharon, and their children Ashley, Alesha and Adam; and a cousin, Phyllis Korab and her husband Walter, Sharon.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant son, John J. Chase; and a sister-in-law, Jean Listopad.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Church of Notre Dame 2335 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with Rev. Jeffrey J. Noble, pastor, as the celebrant. There will be a brief prayer service in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
