SHARON – A Youngstown man was arrested Sunday shortly after he allegedly robbed a man of $100 at gunpoint in Sharon.
Cleo C. Johnson, 23, has been charged with robbery, making terroristic threats, possessing an instrument of crime and simple assault.
The victim reported someone he knew as “C.J.” brandished a 9 mm handgun and told him he would shoot the victim in the leg if he didn’t hand over his money, police said.
The robbery occurred in the 800 block of Prindle Street, said police, who were called at 5:52 p.m.
Johnson ran into a house at 703 Prindle, police said.
While the person responsible for the home told police C.J. was not there, police searched and found him in an upstairs bedroom.
The victim identified Johnson as the robber, police said.
Police said they also found a magazine for a 9 mm handgun in a dresser drawer, three 9 mm rounds in a duffel bag in a closet and the cash believed to have been stolen in the bedroom where Johnson was arrested.
A .380-caliber handgun was found in a towel under a mattress, and police believe it was the gun Johnson used during the robbery.
Johnson was arraigned by District Judge Dennis M. Songer, Sharon, and taken to jail after failing to post bond. Songer set a preliminary hearing for 2:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
