HERMITAGE — A redevelopment company has reached an agreement to purchase the Shenango Valley Mall.
LRC Realty, of Akron, Ohio, and the city of Hermitage announced Wednesday that the company will take on the mall redevelopment.
Frank Licata, LRC Realty president, said the community should expect a place where residents can go to shop, to eat and to enjoy a space with modern amenities and an appealing, open design.
"We are excited about this project. It will be a great project for Hermitage and the Shenango Valley," Hermitage City Manager Gary Hinkson said.
LRC Realty has completed similar projects across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina, including The Block Northway in Pittsburgh, which Licata said is a redevelopment project that is similar to the one planned for the Shenango Valley Mall.
"We were able to come in, acquire it, re-imagine it, and rethink it," he said.
The Shenango valley Mall is currently owned by GFM-23, a group comprised of 23 descendants of former owner George F. McConnell.
