HERMITAGE – Two women have been charged with various offenses stemming from the theft of a wallet from a shopper.

Lori A. Marshall, 38, of 353 Liberty St., Sharon, stole the wallet Feb. 21 from a shopper at Kmart, 2235 E. State St., Hermitage police said. She and Vanessa L. Marrie, 31, of 65 S. Seventh St., Sharpsville, used a credit card from the wallet to buy $350 in gift cards at Giant Eagle, 2365 E. State, police said.

The women traded the gift cards for crack cocaine in Youngstown, police said.

Marshall also stole an electric shaver and a soda from Giant Eagle, police said.

Marshall was charged with theft, identify theft, access device fraud, summary retail theft and conspiracy to commit identity theft and access device fraud. Marrie was charged with receiving stolen property, identity theft, access device fraud and conspiracy to commit those charges.

Each woman was committed to jail for failing to post bond, Marshall after being arraigned by District Judge Brian Arthur, Greenville, and Marrie after arraignment by District Judge Dennis M. Songer, Greenville.

Marshall faces a preliminary hearing at 9:15 a.m. today before District Judge Ronald E. Antos, Farrell, while Marrie’s hearing is pending before Antos.

Marshall also has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for having syringes, spoons and other items on her or in her car when police spotted her car April 18 in a handicapped parking spot in Hermitage Towne Plaza, knowing she is not handicapped, police said.
