COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The head of Mercer County’s Drug Task Force has been suspended indefinitely, according to District Attorney Peter C. Acker, after he was charged Monday in Columbiana County with engaging in prostitution.

William F. Brown, of 187 Columbia Ave., Greenville, who also is the fire chief of the West Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Columbiana Municipal Court. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.

According to an affidavit prepared by an agent with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, an ad was posted on a known prostitution website from a drug-dependent woman offering sex for hire.

The agent said Brown responded to the ad and requested to have sex with the woman in exchange for money.

The affidavit states that Brown said he wanted the woman to have sex with a dog, then he requested to have sex afterward. Brown said he was OK with the woman being high on drugs during sex.

The agent said Brown was carrying $300 when he arrived at the designated meeting location. Agents from the human-trafficking task force took him into custody.
