Mercer County Coroner John Libonati confirmed the identities of a husband and wife involved in an apparent domestic shooting in Hermitage Friday night.
He pronounced Cheryl L. Tremmel, 44, dead at the scene, her residence at 3760 Sample Road, at 6:10 p.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.
Libonati ruled the death a homicide and reported autopsy results are pending.
Edward Tremmel, Cheryl's husband, age unlisted, was transported on Friday to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for a gunshot wound, Libonati said. His condition is yet unknown.
Cheryl's two biological daughters have since been placed in the care of undisclosed relatives, Libonati said.
Hermitage police reportedly responded to the Tremmel residence at approximately 6 p.m. Friday. Hermitage police have a warrant to arrest Edward Tremmel on a charge of criminal homicide
District Attorney Miles Karson declined comment pending further information from Hermitage police.
