The Russell Street apartments won’t be complete for about a year, but L. DeWitt Boosel is hoping the Mercer County Authority Board will be willing to make them smoke-free.

The 20 one- and two-bedroom apartments are being built by general contractor Rien Construction, Brookfield, and other contractors. Some housing authorities are making all of their units smoke-free. While Boosel isn’t suggesting they go that far in Mercer County, it’s easier to start a smoke-free policy with a brand-new building.
