Pennsylvania Power Company crews were looking to find the problem that caused power to be cut to 1,230 customers Wednesday night in Sharon, said Area Manager Anthony Zucco.

It appears that a circuit is out, likely from a substation, he said.

“We’re not sure what’s going on, yet,” Zucco said. “Four or five calls from customers, all kinds of crazy reports.

Those reports include lines down, a car hitting a pole and a broken cross arm, but none of the reports were verified, he said.

It’s likely that, once the source is found, crews will be able to do some switching and restore power quickly to most customers, Zucco said.

Mercer County 911 and Zucco said they were aware of outages in the areas of Prindle, McClure, Spruce, Cedar, Wengler, Spencer and South Oakland avenues and Connelly Boulevard. Mercer County 911 also reported customers without power on Cranbrook Drive and George Street Extension in Hermitage.

Penn Power’s Web site reported outages in Grove City, but Zucco said he wasn’t aware of that. By 9:30, Grove City was no longer listed. At least some Sharon customers regained power about 9:40 p.m.
