Four-legged friends need protection from the cold and snow just like their two-legged owners.

With this weekend’s low temperatures expected to dip into the teens and next week’s to the single digits, the best protection is for outdoor pets to come inside, even if that means just into the garage or a basement.

But for those animals who must stay outside, veterinarian Heather Snyder said there are four basic rules.
