SHENANGO TOWNSHIP — Four people sustained injuries Sunday night in an accident along New Castle Road (State Route 18) near State Route 760.

Mercer County 911 said the accident, which occurred just before 9 p.m., involved multiple vehicles.

Shenango Township fire Chief Justin Barnes said firefighters had to rescue a female passenger from one of the vehicles. The woman sustained what Barnes called moderate injuries.

Three other people were injured and Barnes reported that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries. None of the vehicles' occupants had life-threatening injuries.

In addition to Shenango Township Fire Department, Shenango Township police, and fire departments from New Wilmington and West Middlesex responded to the accident scene.
