Hermitage police add new patrolman to force

HERMITAGE — Zachary P. Barrett was sworn in Nov. 1 to officially join the Hermitage Police Department.

District Judge Mary Odem performed the swearing-in ceremony.

Barrett, an Erie County native, graduated in 2017 from Mercyhurst University’s Municipal Police Training Academy, in North East, Pa. Barrett, who has an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Mercyhurst University, also is a sergeant in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

He will work as a patrolman in the department’s patrol division.

Barrett was hired to replace Ronald Dague, who will become a school resource officer at the Hermitage School District elementary campus.
