SHARON – A Sharon man has waived his preliminary hearing on rape-related charges.

Michael C. Warner, 40, of 107 Smith Ave., Sharon, is charged with rape of an unconscious victim, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault after an incident Dec. 1 in his home.

Police said the female victim went to Warner’s house after going out drinking with Warner, his wife and several other friends.

The woman had several drinks and fell asleep on an air mattress in Warner’s house. Police said the victim told investigators that she woke up to find Warner performing sex acts on her.

Police said the victim went to UPMC Horizon Greenville and had a sexual assault kit examination performed. Results have been sent to a Pennsylvania State Police lab for analysis.

Warner waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Dennis Songer. Warner’s preliminary arraignment is scheduled for March 24 in Mercer County Court of Common Pleas.

He remains free after posting $50,000 bond on Jan. 9.
