Man hit by his own van after car hits it on I-80

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP — A Youngstown man was hit by his own vehicle Wednesday on Interstate 80, state police said.

William R. Cravener, 56, had parked his van along the berm of the highway, police said, and was standing in front of it looking at the engine when a car driven by Andrew Hendricks, 20, of Connecticut, hit the left rear of the van, which then hit Cravener.

Cravener was taken to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System for injury to his left arm, police said. A hospital nursing supervisor said Thursday there was no patient by that name.

Hendricks was not injured and no charges were filed, according to the police report.
