Renewal of improvement levy goes down in Badger

VERNON TOWNSHIP — Residents in the Joseph Badger Local School District turned down a 1.5-mill, five-year renewal levy to support the continued improvement of school buildings by a count of 1,479 to 1,302, according to unofficial results.

The district that includes Gustavus, Hartford, Kinsman and Vernon townships and Orangeville opened a new single kindergarten through 12th grade campus in September on state Route 7 in Vernon Township.

Hubbard Township police see pair of levies pass

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — Hubbard Township residents approved a pair of tax issues that show their continued support of their full-time police department.

Voters passed a 1.75-mill renewal levy by a count of 1,732 to 732, according to unofficial results. The levy is good for three years and will first be collected in 2008.

They also unofficially passed a second tax issue, a 4.5-mill replacement levy, by a count of 1,548 to 967. That levy will replace separate 3-mill and 1.5-mill levies and will first be collected next year.
