A Sharon man’s dog police say attacked a 7-year-old Hermitage boy earlier this month will be euthanized today, said Kathy Whiteman, director of the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter in Hermitage.

The pit bull, owned by Quentin Walker, 25, of 485 Lincoln St., bit the boy on the leg and arm shortly before 1:20 p.m. June 10 in the 400 block of Lincoln.

Walker faces a total of $1,111 in fines and court costs on three citations.

Police said the boy got multiple stitches at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

“He did the responsible thing,” Ms. Whiteman said of Walker’s decision to have the dog put to sleep.

Police said it wasn’t the first time they’d been called to Walker’s home for loose dogs. He was cited for failing to confine the dog, have it licensed or properly vaccinated against rabies.
