Officials from six Shenango Valley communities, Mercer County Regional Planning Commission and a consultant helping put together two multi-municipal comprehensive plans will hold a public visioning workshop at 7 p.m. April 26 in the Hickory High School cafeteria, Hermitage.

Officials will discuss conditions in the Shenango Valley, the future of the area, where growth should be targeted, where revitalization is needed and where urban or rural character should be preserved. Citizens will have the opportunity to express what they think are needs and issues for the area.

A comprehensive plan provides a municipality’s or an area’s guiding policy for future growth, development and community opportunities.

Consultant Spotts, Stevens and McCoy Inc., Reading, Pa., has been hired to prepare two joint plans, one for Sharon, Hermitage, Farrell and Wheatland, and the second for Shenango Township and West Middlesex.
