Sharon council is holding the first of several planned neighborhood meetings Tuesday and residents are encouraged to come and speak their minds.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Business Institute of Pennsylvania, 335 Boyd Drive.

Councilwoman Jennifer Barborak said council decided to hold the meetings to “get in touch with the people” who put them in office.

Anyone from the northeast side of Sharon is invited to voice complaints, ideas or suggestions, she said.

The meetings are to hear the issues residents are concerned about in their own back yards. Each neighborhood has different problems, Mrs. Barborak said.

Most of council, Mayor Bob Lucas, Police Chief Thomas Burke, Fire Chief Terence Whalen and code enforcement officers are supposed to attend, she said.

Mrs. Barborak said more meetings will be scheduled in different neighborhoods. The next one will likely be in January on the West Hill, she said, with others to follow.

Also, council members will be walking the neighborhood passing out fliers about the meeting Saturday after the Veterans Day service, said Mrs. Barborak.
