NEW CASTLE – A Sharon man is wanted for allegedly shooting at a car in the Lincoln public housing projects in New Castle earlier this week.
New Castle police are looking for Raymond Ellis Rice, 59, of 432 Fisher Hill St., after he allegedly put two bullet holes in a man’s car on Monday while it was parked in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue.
The car owner, who lives in an apartment there, told police that Rice had attended his birthday party a few hours earlier, and they had gotten into an argument. The man left with his friend during the evening, and when he returned, a neighbor told him that Rice had returned to the area and he watched him fire two rounds into the man’s car.
The neighbor said that Rice also pointed a black revolver at him and told him he was going to kill the man who owns the car.
Police viewed a surveillance video that shows the man and Rice getting into a scuffle on the man’s porch, then a tan Chevy Impala pulling up and Rice getting out, walking toward the man’s vehicle with a gun in his hand and shooting the car.
Rice is charged with unlawful possession of a gun, carrying a gun without a license, making terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and unlawfully discharging a firearm under a city ordinance.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
