MEADVILLE — A Mercer County man will stand trial on home improvement fraud and theft charges after state police said he bilked a Woodcock Township woman out of almost $1,200.
Mathew Scott Kerr, 27, of 365 E. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, failed to appear for a preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Lincoln Zilhaver and was ordered held for court on the charges filed by state police.
Police allege Kerr took $1,194.53 from a Woodcock Township woman for cement work, telling the woman that he worked for Miller Concrete and was fully insured. Police said he does not work for the firm nor does he have insurance.
Kerr had been sent a summons to appear at last week preliminary hearing via first-class mail as well as certified mail, and both summons had been accepted, according to court records.
Zilhaver sent a request for a bench warrant for Kerr’s arrest and notice was sent to Crawford County Court of Common Pleas.
Kerr is scheduled for trial on the charges during the September criminal trial term of county court.
