Mercer County commissioners have shaved $69,000 off their phone bill.

Commissioners have sparred with Verizon over a contract for county employees since November 2007, leading to a billing dispute that’s finally come to a close.

Verizon agreed to waive $69,020 in "disallowable charges," which is near the $50,000 mark commissioners estimated they were overbilled.
