A man faces charges after police said he pointed a high-powered rifle at his wife and threatened to kill her Sunday night in their Sharon home.

Shawn F. Bucciarelli, 37, of 311 Elm Ave., was arraigned Monday morning on charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, police said.

Police went to the home at 10:45 p.m. after Bucciarelli’s wife, whom police did not name, called Mercer County 911 and said her husband was holding her at gunpoint, police said.

When police got to the home, the woman came outside and police went in and found Bucciarelli hiding on the back porch, police said.

The couple had argued earlier in the evening and while the Super Bowl was on television, Bucciarelli began throwing cigarettes at his wife and calling her names, she told police.

At one point Bucciarelli left the room and came back with the gun, loaded it and pointed it at his wife, police said.

Police said they seized the gun and ammunition.

The couple’s 16-year-old son was at home at the time, police said.

No one was hurt in the incident, police said.

Bucciarelli is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the charges Feb. 11 before Senior District Judge Henry J. Russo. Court documents list Farrell as Bucciarelli’s home.
