FARRELL – A Farrell man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Juwon Brandon Samuels, 20, of 1900 Shady Drive, is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person less than 16, sexual assault, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors after an incident reported at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at his home.

By waiving the hearing, Samuels stipulates that there is enough evidence for the case to move to Common Pleas Court.

According to a police criminal complaint, Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission conducted a forensic interview with the 13-year-old victim, who said she went to Samuels’ house to hang out.

She said he grabbed her arms and pulled her to a room with a bed in it. She said he threw her on the bed and even though she resisted, Samuels overpowered her.

The victim said she grabbed her belongings and ran away afterward. She said Samuels messaged her that she could not say anything because she was too young and he would go to jail.

Samuels is free on bond. His next court date in Common Pleas Court is set for Dec. 14.

Editor’s note: Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
