MERCER — Officials have provided a second formal notice of Mercer Forge's impending closure, which will leave 131 people out of work.
The notice — a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification, or WARN, form — is a duplicate of a prior notification issued in August by the factory's former owner, Wisconsin-based Neenah Foundry Inc.
The most recent notification is issued by the new owner, Milwaukee Forge, also based in Wisconsin, for an undisclosed price.
Some of the workers already have been permanently laid off, with about 45 people still working at the factory. The company has no timetable for when operations will permanently stop.
