A mercury spill at the U.S. Postal Service’s Warrendale distribution center near Pittsburgh on Sunday has delayed mail delivery in the greater region.

USPS spokesman Tad Kelley said the center was closed as a precaution and mail has been diverted to another processing center.

Kelley was unsure about the length of the mail delays as of Wednesday afternoon, but said the “impacts (of the mercury spill) have been kept to a minimum.''
