YOUNGSTOWN — An undercover operation to target child predators resulted in the arrests of 16 men.
The investigation, led by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission and Ohio’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, was the second this year in the Youngstown area. A previous sting in March resulted in eight arrests.
A Mercer County man, Thomas Yakemovic III, 30 of West Middlesex, was among those taken into custody this week on suspicion of importuning, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possession of criminal tools.
All of the suspects are from Ohio unless otherwise indicated. They include: William Ragle, 25, of Akron; David Kent, 24, of Cranberry Township, Pa.; Dennis Dabney II, 47, of Salem; Ronald Woods III, 23, of Austintown; Ommar Castro Diaz, 24, of Cleveland; Steven Sutton, 44, of Prospect, Pa.; Nicholas Sammartino, 20, of Youngstown; Andrew Wirth, 30, of Ravenna; Joel Kurz, 30, of Boardman; Grant Geib, 24, of Orville; Darrell Davis, 60, of East Liverpool; Timothy Leverknight, 53, of Salem; Brian Underwood, 33, of Youngstown; James McClalin III, 39, of Hubbard; and Charles Stumpf, 23, of Akron.
The office of Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, a cooperative effort of police agencies throughout the Youngstown area, also participated in the operation.
