JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP – A 17-year-old Greenville girl was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday night.

Elizabeth Spradlin, a passenger in one of the cars, died in the crash. Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati determined the cause of death blunt force injury from the accident.

Jefferson Township police responded to the crash at approximately 5:30 p.m. on state Route 58 and Fullingmill Road.

"The investigation is still in the preliminary stages," Jefferson Township police Chief Jeffrey Lockard said.

Two girls, with Spradlin as the passenger, were traveling in a vehicle headed east on Fullingmill Road when their vehicle went through the stop sign. Lockard said Tuesday it was not known why the vehicle went through the stop sign.

The vehicle then collided with a car traveling east on state Route 58, Lockard said.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals with unknown injuries.

All parties involved were wearing seat belts, the chief said.
