WEST MIDDLESEX – West Middlesex council will get a new member as Republican Eric Lucich was the top vote-getter with 123 votes.
Democrat Bob Lark, the sitting council president, won re-election with 115 votes. Incumbent Maleia James who had won nominations as both a Democrat and Republican, missed being re-elected by coming in third with 88 votes.
Candidates couldn’t be reached for comment late Tuesday night.
Over the past year a number of hot issues surfaced at council meetings and at times involved raised voices and shouting among council members and between council members and those attending meetings.
Merger talks between Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department and West Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department have been ongoing but have slowed in recent months over legal issues.
There have been testy exchanges with council members with Shenango Township over a sewer bill.
Township officials have said West Middlesex owes more than $100,000 for improvements made years ago with the joint sewer system. West Middlesex council members have said they must be provided an itemized bill detailing the expenses. So far the township has not provided that bill.
