SHARON – A Sharon woman was seriously injured after being hit by a garbage truck Monday morning in Sharon.

Police responded to an accident 4:06 a.m. at East Silver Street, just west of the intersection of North Oakland Avenue, where a pedestrian was hit by a garbage truck.

The Tri-County Industries truck was headed north on North Oakland and was making a westbound turn onto East Silver.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital with serious lower body injuries, Police Chief Edward Stabile said.

Police have not released the names of the woman or the driver.

The incident is still under investigation.
