A LOCAL businessman and all-around good guy is being fondly remembered this summer in a way he would thoroughly enjoy.
Relatives and good chums of the late Gary “Moe’’ Meszaros have created a fundraising event designed to help local charities and people. Meszaros, who passed away last year, was the co-founder of Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant.
After his passing, the Meszaros Family Charitable Foundation was created and the first event for the nonprofit organization will be Thursday, Aug. 4. Festivities are set to begin starting at 5 p.m. at The Lube’s Big Top Tent at its downtown restaurant complex,
This FUNd FEAST – yes, that’s how it’s spelled – will kick off The Lube’s Bavarian Fun Fest which will begin the next day.
The FUNd FEAST will showcase a Bavarian Fun Fest-like theme complete with lively entertainment and ethnic foods, such as beef, lamb and pork.
Fundraising at the event will include live and silent auctions. Tickets include a complimentary admission to the Fun Fest that weekend.
But the best part is the Meszaros Foundation’s mission is to honor Gary by creating lasting influences in the region through grants and awards to well-deserving individuals and causes.
Established in August of 2015, the foundation’s goal is to improve the area by strengthening individuals and families and conduct community projects. Those who knew Gary can attest he always worked to brighten the community through employment, business development, and by making a difference in people’s lives.
A board of directors has been set up to oversee the fundraising efforts as part of the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.
Those who knew Gary can tell you how he always looked forward to The Lube’s Bavarian Fun Fest. Decked out in lederhosen and a Bavarian-style hat, he would always be seen roaming The Lube’s grounds during the Fun Fest to ensure everything was running smoothly.
He went out of his way to check on acquaintances and ask them about their families.
The FUNd FEAST is a good event for a great cause.
Tickets cost $75 and will be available at the The Lube’s Sharon restaurant in two weeks. Tickets will also soon be available at moesfund.org. Donations can be made to: The Meszaros Family Charitable Foundation, Box 1135, Hermitage, PA 16148.
