Paul Malinchak, 3925 North Ridge Road East, Lot 15, Ashtabula, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield, died Friday (3-31-2006) in his home after an extended illness. He was 76.

Mr. Malinchak was born April 21, 1929 in Washington County, a son of Andrew and Anna Malinchak.

Following high school, Paul joined the Army to protect our freedom during World War II, achieving the rank of sergeant.

Paul worked as a tool engineer for National Forge, Erie. He was an established inventor and patent holder.

In his spare time, he enjoyed football and basketball as well as spending time with his granddaughters. Paul also had a talent to design and build houses.

His wife, the former Joan E. Berkley, whom he married Oct. 28, 1950, died March 28, 2002.

Surviving are: three children, Michael Malinchak, Ashtabula; Thomas Malinchak, Chesterland, Ohio; and Joy Timpe, Ashtabula; a sister, Ellen McIver, New Castle; and granddaughters, Anna Timpe and Sabrina.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Steve, Mike, Frank and Andy Malinchak; and two sisters, Mary Posego and Ann Grego.
