Robert L. “Beetle” Bedell, Trinity Living Center, 400 Hillcrest Ave., Grove City, formerly of Delaware Street, Sharon, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday (4-29-06) in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, of natural causes after an extended illness. He was 82.

Mr. Bedell was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Sharon to the late Blaine G. and Anna C. (Cepul) Bedell.

He was a blast furnace operator at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant for over 40 years.

Robert was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Shenango Valley Post 1338, Sharon; and liked to fish and hunt.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially sled-riding with them in his younger years.

He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Sharon.

He married the former Helen R. Boles on Feb. 16, 1946. She died June 28, 1989.

An Army veteran, he served in World War II in North Africa and Italy. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp.

He is survived by two daughters, Terry L. and her husband James McClave, Mercer; and Cindy L. Bedell, Girard, Ohio; a son, Gary W. Bedell, Sharon; three grandsons, Darren J. McClave, Marienville, Pa.; Christopher L. McClave, Mercer; and Chrystan R. Bedell, Sharon; and a great-grandson, Christopher James McClave, Grove City.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Bedell.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday (5-2-06) in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Sterling, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Sharon, officiating.

Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, with military honors provided by Sharon Honor Guard.
