A funeral service will be held Saturday for Ronald K. Swogger of 870 S. Lake Road, Jefferson Township. He died unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 70.

Mr. Swogger was born June 22, 1935, in Meadville to Merle C. and G. Arlene Ridgeway Swogger.

He was a 1953 graduate of Cochranton High School.

Ron retired in 1997 from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Mercer County.

He was of the Protestant faith and loved spending time with his family as well as working in the yard and gardening. Ron loved family get-togethers and enjoyed riding his bicycle, particularly riding the local bike trails.

He will be missed by his family and his beloved cat, Rusty.

His wife, the former Dolores A. “Dorie” Shilling, whom he married Feb. 4, 1956, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Deborah J. Staples, Mercer; a son, Gary K. Swogger, Mercer; a granddaughter, Brandy Swogger, also Mercer; a sister, Mrs. Richard E. (Janice F.) Stahlsmith, Ashville, N.Y.; and a brother, Bruce A. Swogger and his wife Sandy, Carlton, Pa.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Jeffrey S. Swogger and R. Scott Stahlsmith.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday (4-1-06) in the funeral home with the Rev. William P. Crooks, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mercer, officiating.

Interment: With committal service in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
