Funeral service will be Tuesday for Ruth E. Stevenson, White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, formerly of Kennard. She died at 6:50 p.m. Friday (6-16-06) in the nursing home. She was 89.

Mrs. Stevenson was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Canton, S.D., a daughter of the late Jacob and Mabel Abbott Stauffacher.

Mrs. Stevenson was an active member of the Country Chapel, Sugar Grove Township; and was a graduate of Sioux Falls (S.D.) High School.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Carrie Stevenson, Jamestown; three sisters, Grace Thoms, Gladbrook, Iowa; Esther Seamans, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Deloris Hawkins, Louisville, Ky.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Glenn Stevenson, whom she married June 10, 1945, and who died June 8, 1993; two sons, Darrell and Larry Stevenson; and a brother, Paul Stauffacher.
